Swibeco a acquis l’activité e-commerce de Premium Brand Solutions SA (PBS), spécialiste des ventes privées en entreprise en Suisse. À partir du 26 octobre, les collaborateurs des entreprises clientes de Swibeco bénéficieront d’un assortiment élargi sur la Plateforme Swibeco, incluant des marques premium dans divers secteurs. Cette acquisition constitue la troisième étape de la stratégie de croissance de Swibeco, après les rachats de Benefits for You SA en 2019 et de MIVO Switzerland en 2022.

On 9 October 2026 the bilateral agreement between Switzerland and Ukraine entered into force, establishing a legal basis for Swiss companies to supply goods and services for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The agreement, part of Switzerland’s Ukraine Country Programme 2025–2028, enables private‑sector involvement, particularly in energy and infrastructure, and allows the Swiss Confederation to procure from Swiss firms through public tenders. It follows ratification by both governments and parliamentary approval in the 2026 summer session.

ETH spin‑off Winduction has developed a wireless charging system that uses coils inside bus tyres to draw power from ground plates at stops, allowing electric buses to recharge during operation. The system achieves over 90% efficiency and enables smaller batteries, reducing acquisition and operating costs. On 2 October 2026, the Swiss Federal Council approved funding for eight Swiss company projects to support Ukraine’s reconstruction, with a total budget of CHF 135 million. The projects, selected through a competitive process, cover energy, public transport, and water sectors and aim to provide Swiss products, expertise, and training to Ukraine while creating jobs and strengthening Swiss companies’ operations there.

Giotto.ai, a Swiss AI company specializing in advanced reasoning systems, has entered a collaboration with Groupe Mutuel, Switzerland’s only global insurer, to deploy its Giotto model across selected use cases. The deployment will run on Groupe Mutuel’s on‑premises infrastructure, ensuring data sovereignty and full control over sensitive data. ETH Zurich recorded 3,800 new bachelor students this semester, up from 3,600 last year, with mechanical engineering remaining the most popular discipline and a 10% rise in its enrollment. Computer Science enrollment fell 15%, while interest in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology surged 27%. Master’s programmes attracted 8,200 applications, an 18% increase, with about 1,900 students expected to begin studies.

Synhelion, a Swiss cleantech startup, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Moroccan government to develop a large‑scale commercial synthetic fuel plant in the Tan‑Tan province. The facility is planned to produce 100,000 tons of renewable fuel per year, using renewable energy and biogenic waste to replace fossil fuels.
