Audit of the efficiency of plant protection product authorisation

A Swiss audit examined the efficiency of plant protection product (PPP) authorisation procedures and fee structures. The audit, conducted by the Swiss Federal Audit Office, found that the procedures are overly complex, the backlog is high, and fees are insufficient to cover costs. The PPP authorisation process involves five federal units from three departments and was aligned with EU procedures at the end of 2025.
